"I am thankful for a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.... I am thankful for the piles of laundry and ironing because it means my loved ones are nearby." ~Nancie J. Carmody

Still Dreaming

Remember my dream? Read this yesterday.

Hold the hen so that she is comfortable and her wings are kept at her side. Open the beak with one hand and squirt the liquid in her throat, a little bit at a time so that she can swallow. Don’t shoot it down her open gullet at full-force, or it could get into her lungs. Let her close her beak and swallow. Repeat. If some dribbles out, don’t worry. Wear clothes you don’t care about – she’s bound to shake her head and spray you. Besides, the reason you’re treating the hen is because of that stinky butt…

Don't get me wrong, I am not having second thoughts. I am however realizing that the art of chicken keeping requires a good chunk of your time, and I seem to be coming up a bit short in that department lately. So for right now at least, I will remain a "chicken blog/website lurker.

Just Stuff

I read a few blogs regularly. I try to limit myself because I could spend hours clicking from one thing to the next and I don't think that it is healthy to spend too much time on the computer, for me anyway. However, there are so many great things to read out there, great recipes, great decorating ideas, encouraging Christian women.

Anyway, I read this a bit ago on a blog and it has me thinking.
"So many weird health issues have come up lately that I'm wondering if there is a spiritual component to all of it. If the Lord brings us to mind, will you pray for my family that this infirmity would leave our house? I know without a doubt that there is a spiritual battle going on around our family."

Listen, I am not a crazy Christian lady with scary extreme ideas. I do however believe that there are unseen battles that take place. I feel like something like this is going on with us. I mean, I know that our lifestyle has contributed to the majority of our issues, but there are also crazy things that have nothing to do with not getting enough exercise and eating too much. For instance, Jim had a severe reaction to eating a handful almonds the other night. When I saw his swollen face yesterday morning, I thought two things. What now, and enough already.

I am faithfully trying to see all of this through. I will admit that I am afraid, and am working through that. We are in uncharted waters here.

I do not understand what is going on in the unseen, I can barely wrap my naive mind around what is going on in the here and now. What I do know is that this past year, I feel like we are under attack physically.
So, if you are a person that speaks to God through prayer...I would be grateful if you would lift up our family.

Quiet Sunday

Although I have a million things to do today, I cannot seem to muster the "get up and go" to do it. The entire house needs a good cleaning, and yet here I sit typing this entry. Even tho I have given up caffeine as part of my "trying to get healthy" regime, I just downed a cup of black tea to help get me moving.
I always swore that when I began working full time, I would need to hire someone to clean my house. The idea is great in theory, but I cannot give up the control of doing it myself. Consequently, the house is always neat and picked up...but very often dusty. UGH, it eats away at me.
No pictures to post, no real news, so I will end it here. Have a great week!

Kinda Lame

I put a little music box on my blog. It's a bit annoying, but I wanted to see if I could actually do it.
