"I am thankful for a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.... I am thankful for the piles of laundry and ironing because it means my loved ones are nearby." ~Nancie J. Carmody

Random Sunday

However much we may know God, the great lesson to learn is that at any minute He may break in. We are apt to overlook this element of surprise, but God never works in any other way. –Oswald Chambers

Amen

It's Sunday and I am on my way upstairs to get ready for church. I feel like dressing up today and so I will pull out something that I used to wear to work. Maybe black dress slacks and a pretty top. I am sick to death of scrubs and really don't feel like myself when I wear them. Nick and his fiancee Bre have already left for an earlier service, so I guess it will be just Jim, Zach and I. I wish Kate would come. (rephrase...I pray Kate will come). Kate "defriended" me on facebook yesterday and I am sad. See...not always "cozy".

The Sun was Shining!

Last night Jim and I attended the wedding of Rebekah and Cliff. The dark clouds rolled out and ushered in sunny skies and clean fresh air. Against the weather odds...the ceremony was held on a lush, grassy hilltop...overlooking the Connecticut River. A beautiful backdrop for a wonderfully touching and sweet ceremony. The birds were singing and a warm, balmy breeze was blowing as the key participants made their way across the lawn. It was a "take your breath away" kind of moment. I reached over and squeezed Jim's hand, Bob and Karen's little girl was getting married. It was magical.
After the ceremony, the guests were welcomed on a lovely stone patio for cocktails and appetizers. We then made our way into the ballroom for a wonderful meal and some fun! It was a memorable night. Congratulations Cliff and Bekka!

Cliff...waiting and watching for Bekka.

The maids of honor...Kelly and Rachel. Beautiful and relaxed as they made their way across the lawn.
Here comes the bride with her Dad and Mom by her side.

Andrew and Kelly sang a beautiful duet.

Rachel, reading from Colossians.

This was the view

Nick and his fiancee Bre, enjoying a moment before heading inside.

Mary, me, the joyous Momma...Karen, and Chris. So great to be together!

The Rest...graduation weekend

After the ceremony we all (me, Jim, John, Cassie, Kate, Nick and Zach) went out for a fun dinner of Sushi and Chinese at Empire Szechuan in Southbury http://empireszechuanct.com/ It was so much fun. Lots of joking and laughing. Zach had to get back for "Grad Night" so Kate and Nick drove him back home. The rest of us stopped at Demo's for ice cream. What a fun night celebrating ZACH!
Zach rolled in from Grad night about 5:30am. He came home with a big prize...a brand new set of golf clubs. So Saturday, the boys hit the course so Zach could try out the new clubs.
Sunday was Zach's party. I didn't get to take many pictures. Zach had the best time and so the party was a success.

Weddings Weddings Weddings

I am surrounded by all things wedding. On Thursday we will attend the wedding of Rebekah and Cliff. Can't wait for that! Can't wait to party with the Donovan family!
Two weeks later Kate and I will attend the bridal shower of my niece Nicole...followed shortly by the wedding of Kelley and Andrew. We will wrap the summer up with Nicole's wedding in Boston on 8/22. Not to mention the fact that Nick is planning his own nupitals for Jan 2010. Showers and weddings...I am in the zone. Thought I would post some fun vintage photos to get more in the groove...

Random

Wednesday...halfway through the week. This is Zach's last week of school. Graduation is Friday night. Monday was "Senior Skip Day". His year book is filling up with parting messages from his friends. I asked him if it was a little sad to say goodbye to high school and he said that it was.
Nick is off to the BIG city today. His first "business" trip with ESPN. He worked late last night and came home bleary eyed....literally. He was up at the crack of dawn to catch the train. He finally got his first paycheck and made a copy of it as a memento...cute!
I am counting down the days until I have Tuesdays off. It cannot come fast enough. I am tired of saving housework and errands for the weekend. Oh, I stopped in at Physicians Health Monday night, just to say hello. It was so great to see everyone. I sat at my desk and realized how much I miss my chair and just having my own space. I am a nomad at Westside Medical. I finally commandeered a drawer at the nurses station last week.
Waiting for the sun to shine again here in Ct. We have had rain almost every day for two weeks, with no end to the dismal weather in sight. Hope you all are having a great week and enjoying better springtime weather!

Love this....
